The coast stretches towards Spain along seventy kilometers from Leucate to Cerbere. The sandy coast is run along by ponds. Fishermen’s cabins offer a privileged spot to admire the beautiful scenery. This preserved and protected nature spot offer sailing activities and oyster farming. Further down the coast, the Côte Vermeille and schist cliffs, which are covered with terraced vineyards, incite the exploration of its land and villages nestled in the rocks of which a good example is Collioure. This former fishing town and royal residence was the inspiration of the Fauvist movement initiated by Matisse and Derain.
