The lands of Catalonia are dominated by the wine culture, from the coast to the back country with its small farms and wineries, the visitor can discover through a wide variety of wines; sweet wines ( Banyuls, Muscat, Maury),dry wines, red and white wines, round or more tannic to the palate, there is a large variety to choose from for all kinds of wine enthusiasts. As for the local cuisine, it is inspired from its close neighbour, Spain. It however retains a unique character tinged with a Mediterranean accent: among its specialities, there are grilled fish or meat accompanied by aioli, boles de picoulat (meatballs), ollada (stew) to sweets such as nougat, rousquilles and doughnuts.
